greetings dose families we are super excited to welcome you to the 2627 school year and this is our Dodge demc monthly digital newsletter I am principal Chavis and I'm here to give you a little information as well as our other principles please note that the first day of school starts August 24th which is Monday and being on time means being at school at 8:10 families you are also welcome to partake at 8 a.m. with our coffee with our principals outside in the parking lot right near the gym another reminder is that on Wednesday September the 2nd we're having our Das Haus draft day that's for all Scholars that are currently not in a house which really means all of our new Scholars during the day during our electives period will have that Draft Day experience there is no school on September the 4th as well as September the 7th Friday and Monday of late every day and on September the 9th which is a Wednesday we are having our open house and meet the teacher night come out walk your scholar schedule have fun learn everything about what your scholar will be doing this school year and then September 23rd we're having our DA's parent house party if you came last year you already know it's going to be fun it's going to be excitement it's going to be all the things that show you what is the house system and how we have fun and party and just have a great time so lastly September the 25th which is a Friday there is no school we have professional development with our teachers so no Scholars that day again I'm principal Chavis and I'm so excited to welcome you back to school now you'll hear from the rest of our principles Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences families welcome back to the 2026 2027 school year I'm Dr Jackson principal of Early Head Start to first grade in the south building and also first floor of the west building let's take a look at our leadership team the Southwest leadership team consists of myself Dr Jackson principal Miss patwe assistant director Miss Burr instructional coach Mr Leverett dean of students and Mrs Gray administrative assistants any of our leaders are ready and willing to help make this a great school year Please be aware of the following upcoming dates save them in your calendar as needed hello dose East Second through fourth grade families and welcome back to a brand new school year we're so excited to see our Scholars back in the building on Monday ready to learn to grow lead and have an amazing school year together I am principal on and I am thrilled to be back with our incredible leadership and administrative team who will continue supporting our fat our Scholars families and teachers this year joining me is Mr Foster who is the assistant principal Miss loving ardina students uh Mrs bird um Ela and social studies in uh coach Miss Reed our math and science coach and last but not least Matthews who is our Administrative Assistant um together we are committed to making sure every student's feels loved supported challenged and empowered to succeed and families we want to thank you we your partnership matters many of our teachers have already been reaching out making phone calls and messages and welcoming you and your Scholars back we encourage you to connect with your child's teacher and continue building that strong partnership throughout the year when families and teachers work together our Scholars win and Scholars before you walk through these doors here's your first reminder come ready and come in uniform with posted this uniform dress this dress code on jojo so here's a short reminder or shot shorts flyer to uh so that you know what the uniform code is obviously our uniforms are there to help us create a community where we are ready and focused um to represent Das now let's make this our best year yet and welcome back that's family see you on Monday hey families we can't wait to see you for our first day of school at Detroit early middle college Scarlet can enter through our front door on Franklin Avenue at 29 87 Franklin Street you'll see us standing there ready to start the day and hyping up the students for the first day at demc doors open at 8:20 so Scholars can get breakfast and that will be over at 8:35 so classes can start promptly at 8:40 if you're scholar is not yet enrolled but I have a few things I need to get settled before coming into the building please go to the gym at the dose main campus at 2985 East Jefferson Street we're so excited to see you and can't wait for Week 1 d e f c you no see you soon
