About Our District

The DETROIT ACADEMY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES (DAAS) is a pre-kindergarten through eighth grade educational community located in the heart of downtown Detroit.  DAAS was founded in 1997 by Rev. Jim Holley, Ph.D, who held a desire and vision to create an innovative educational center that met the needs of the children of Detroit and its surrounding communities.  Currently, DAAS is operating under the authorization of Oakland University.

 

DAAS serves a diverse student population across the metropolitan Detroit area in the three buildings that make up the DAAS Campus: our South Building – pre-K and Kindergarten (located on the south side of Jefferson); our West Building – 1st grade and 5th through 8th grades (located on the northwest side of Jefferson); and our East Building – 2nd through 4th grades (located on the northeast side of Jefferson).
